The Sri Lanka Cricket team has been a part of this game since 1926. He became a member of ICC in 1965, and since then he has been showing his better game. History of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team
Cricket was introduced to Sri Lanka by the British after colonization, with the first recorded match dating back to 1832. The Ceylon national cricket team was formed in the 1880s and began playing first-class cricket by the 1920s. The team achieved Associate Member status of the International Cricket Council in 1965 and was renamed Sri Lanka in 1972.
Sri Lanka was awarded Test cricket status in 1981 and played their first Test match against England in 1982. They won their first Test match against India in 1985 and won the 2001-02 Asian Test Championship. Under Duleep Mendis, Sri Lanka won their first Test match against India in 1985 and won the three-match Test series 1–0.
Sri Lanka’s next series victory came against New Zealand in December 1992, followed by a one-wicket victory against England in a one-Test series. Two years later, Sri Lanka won their first overseas Test match under Arjuna Ranatunga against New Zealand in 1995, which resulted in their first overseas Test series victory.
Sri Lanka registered their first ODI win against India in 1979 at Old Trafford, England.

Sri Lanka Bowling Coach
Lasith Malinga is the current bowling coach of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. In the current World Cup, he is coaching to Sri Lankan cricket men’s team. He is one of the greatest limited-overs fast bowlers Sri Lanka has produced and is known for his unique bowling action and expertise in death bowling. Malinga retired from all forms of the game in 2021 but has since returned to coaching.
Malinga was appointed as Sri Lanka’s bowling strategy coach for the white-ball leg of the team’s home series against Australia in June 2023. He previously served as bowling mentor of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2018 and was Rajasthan Royals’ fast-bowling coach in 2022.
Malinga’s vast experience and renowned death-bowling expertise are expected to be a valuable asset to the Sri Lankan bowling attack. He is known for his ability to work with bowlers of all types and help them improve their skills. Malinga is also a strong communicator and is able to motivate and inspire his bowlers.
